Important note: I don't mean that last part literally.

I wonder too, but not enough to do the work to find out. It's a reminder of the importance of electing the council by ward rather than at large. And a rebuke to folks who were sure the election would be swung by bogus voters in Ward 6 or 2 or 9. They should have worried about Edinans sneaking in.

Unsatisfying answer, but here goes. I've been a volunteer at 3 locations of one network, a patient at 4 locations of another, and a family member at various locations of a couple more networks. And they've been consistently inconsistent. Good and bad experiences at them all. There's no simple truth.

If nonsense falls like a tree in a forest and Taylor isn't there to hear it, does it make any sense?

If I'm not otherwise occupied, I'd be glad to do it, but there's a good chance I'll be cuddling a baby, which sounds like more fun.

I guess 3 is the goldilocks number of ballot candidates for voter engagement in electing 2 BET members. With only 2 (as in 2017), voters don't see a point, and with 4 (as in 2021) they're overwhelmed. Of course, in 2017 there *was* a third option, some guy by the name of John Edwards as a write-in.

And yes, I do know that there's a planar embedding of the complete graph on four vertices. I did teach graph theory once upon a time. But where's the fun in that?

I've got to admit, though, that displaying the four-candidate version as a three-dimensional tetrahedron, complete with a viewer that allowed you to rotate it around, would be mighty cool.

Something like this? I'm skeptical whether most people would find it helpful.

There was some confusion caused by how narrowly the mayor's race cleared the 50% threshold. But the relevant fact is how large the margin is to the next highest. Also, there *will* be some randomly chosen manual counts as a routine check on the equipment; that's automatic.

I agree with you about the > and the rank numbers. What do you think of the format below?
As to the graph format, would you perhaps want to dummy up an example? But yeah, it surely won't be as easy to make, no matter what exactly you have in mind.
Thanks.

I'm asking for reactions to this table format because I'm contemplating doing the same for 2025 once the data is available. Because there are 4 main candidates instead of 3, there will be 6 rows of comparisons instead of 3.

Maybe we won't. I was just giving you my guess based on my memory of past practice.

The only case in which your Fateh 3rd-choice vote would not count is if you had a Frey 1st- or 2nd-choice vote. Whichever of those two you ranked ahead of the other (or only) counted in the final round.

Indeed, her complaint seems to be that she got too many votes. The city is recording her at 773 first-choice votes whereas the state only shows her with 767. The extra 6 are bugging her. They result from the state only showing what's in the first column, whereas the city uses the first voted column.
