I like movies and Halloween and Boston sports, especially Red Sox. I used to write about movies but haven’t in a long time. You can read my ramblings at http://chucknorrisatemybaby.blogspot.com. Mostly here for baseball news. Okay, bye.

Everyone was ready to dump this guy a few weeks ago (not me!) Now they’ve moved onto Casas, who will apparently be replaced by Roman Anthony, lol.

My brain melts a little every time I see someone comment that Anthony needs to be brought up to replace Casas.

Red Sox farm director Brian Abraham joined Will Middlebrooks and me on the latest 310 to Left. A discussion of Roman Anthony and Kristian Campbell led to this articulation of the Red Sox hitting philosophy (and where pull-side flyballs fall within it): youtu.be/EP2XuEmehiE?...

And having Fitts go down is a huge concern, especially with how Newcomb has been performing. Hopefully it’s nothing serious, as he’s been really solid. At least we have reinforcements coming.

I live in OH, so both OH and both Chicago teams are blacked out for me, which may be a blessing in disguise with how this series has gone. This team is growing very frustrating. It’s certainly early, but whatever is going on with the roster needs to be addressed ASAP. They should be so much better.

Jonathon Papelbon pitched for the Red Sox from 2005-11. He is the Sox career leader in saves with 219, he’s 4th in games pitched with 396 and 2nd in games finished with 334. He had a 2.33 ERA, a 197 ERA+, 10.7 SO/9, and a 16.2 WAR. He was a 4 time AS, and finished 2nd in the ROY in 2006.

Very sad. I can hear that “Hello, Mr. Wilson!” in my head as if I just heard it yesterday.

Now the Red Sox are firmly in second place, and I honestly don’t see them stopping. This is a team playing the way they should be, and it’s all happening with some key pitching injuries, which are soon to be resolved. It just goes to show how important pitching depth is as well as good defense.

Love all the naysayer fans who gave up on and started trashing Boston after one series, only for the offense to come to life and start playing the way they were expected to. Currently they’re on a 4 game win streak, soon to be 5 with the way things are going tonight.

So happy they got this done. Now, all they need to do is extend Campbell and maybe win a few games.
Crochet has reached an extension with the Red Sox:

Per source, $170M over 6 years (2026-31) with an opt out after 2030

It’s the largest contract signed by a pitcher with 4+ years of service, passing deGrom $137.5M - which had a $110.25M valuation with deferrals)

I said “extend this kid ASAP!” at least two to three times during last night’s game. He absolutely has what it takes to be a star in Boston.
“They’re talking back and forth, I know that for a fact. I’m not sure how close or not close it is, but we got some communication on that for sure.”

It’s been a whirlwind week for Kristian Campbell, who now may be on the verge of a contract extension

Jim Rice was not only a great player, but also a great human being and teammate. From his work with the Jimmy Fund and inner city youth, to rushing into the the stands to help a boy hit by a line drive, and carrying him into the clubhouse for help. Here he carries Remy off the field after an injury.

I’d still like to see them take on David Robertson for a year, but as it stands this is a successful, A- off season for Boston. It’s nice to finally see them spend on a position player.
