When our nervous system is regulated, we feel calm, safe, and better able to manage stress and emotions. But when it’s dysregulated, we may experience anxiety, overwhelm, or shutdown.

Maybe they’re depressed.
Don’t avoid them.
Don’t tell them to cheer up.
Just tell them that you see that they appear to be hurting and you are there for them.
