“.. The Agriculture Department issued the command in a late-night Saturday memo .. That guidance threatened to impose financial penalties on states that did not “comply” quickly with the government’s new orders.”

Looks like the strategy worked! A federal appeals court late Sunday rejected yet another attempt by the Trump administration to block full federal funding for food stamps. The decision may not take effect until late Tuesday, following guidance previously issued by the Supreme Court.

Trump said he’d be “honored” to release SNAP funds with guidance from the courts.

Today, he got that guidance from Judge John McConnell in Rhode Island, FOR THE SECOND TIME.

And he immediately appealed.

I asked Georgetown law prof David Super wtf is going on with this latest demand for states to claw back benefits already sent out.
He says the law doesn't allow for this, and if the USDA is mad that states already sent out SNAP money, too bad—they were following USDA's own guidance. Full comments:

Exactly. And not just USDA’s own guidance, but the guidance of the USDA official, Patrick Penn, who is now threatening to punish states for following his earlier guidance.

Public health depends on citizens accepting scientifically-grounded guidance. When official institutions produce politically-determined science and independent verification infrastructure is eliminated, the capacity for evidence-based health policy collapses, writes Renée DiResta.

Even thought the EHRC have withdrawn their interim guidance and the UK government haven't approved new guidance and the Equality Act doesn't apply in Northern Ireland, Givan ordered schools to discriminate and gave permission to misgender trans pupils and has not withdrawn his edict

The EHRC's ‘interim guidance’ is transphobic, harmful - and legally wrong.

We’re in the High Court tomorrow to challenge it.

SNAP update. Insane one. So USDA is now saying on a huge lag:
- issue partial payments using a bad-math formula;
- CLAW BACK full issuances that any state sent *properly* under last week's guidance;
- if you don't CLAW BACK benefits, we won't pay the federal share of SNAP administrative costs (??)

Plaintiffs; USDA guidance remained in place for a full 24 hours after the administrative stay was entered by SCOTUS. So states interpreted the guidance as allowing them to pay full benefits.

Becker: We'd have to update the guidance.

When you’re a kid in high school, the guidance counselor says “say, you have a knack for doodlin—ever think of being a car toonist?” Note that in this scenario your guidance counselor is a gentle small town country man.

the truth is, I have no idea -- and several states, in fact, did not have any idea -- how this guidance would be implemented and what it would mean in practice. which is the problem, of course. it creates only more confusion around a program in serious trouble.
NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...

Our soldiers stationed overseas shouldn't be getting guidance from our government to look to local food banks for support.

I wonder how the German government would feel about paying for our forces to eat? 🤔

Not to mention, and more importantly, local people need that food.

Transfemmes and trans women so often have no guidance, no clue what they're doing, no freedom, no security, no opportunity. If your reaction to that is to shame them for dressing like shit instead of trying to help, keep your fucking mouth shut.
