The Trump administration’s targeting of funders and donation platforms is a blatant attempt to isolate civil society and silence dissent.

We won't back down. The only way we win is if we keep fighting.
New threats to our movement, but we won’t back down - Oil Change International

This right here is why I think the future for Bluesky is bright. The folks behind it actively encouraging others to spin up their own version.

This is the good version of the internet.
Please, take the code, go forth and do so!

We are actually running multiple instances of Bluesky, but that doesn't matter because... we are the company.

The #COP29 outcome was deeply disappointing, but I still take heart from all the amazing people who turn up year after year fighting for a better future.
#COP29 wrapped up this past weekend and the outcome was deeply flawed. You may have see some big numbers making the headlines, but they're a dangerous smokescreen hiding what really took place.

Read our analysis and highlights amidst the haze:

COP29 Dispatch: A $300 Billion Smokescreen
COP29 concluded this past weekend with a deeply flawed agreement on climate finance that plans for fossil fuel phaseout failure and has been carefully crafted by rich countries to dodge their responsi...

Others have noted it but I will too: The big reason Bluesky is so hot right now is that the people who add value to social media - the frequent posters in specific fields - are here now, talking to each other and creating the "spectator value" that draws users and attention.

#COP29 = failure. Multiple governments rejecting final outcome after it was gaveled through. Our full response as OCI.
#COP29 is wrapping up and the climate finance deal is a scam. Rich countries are creating debt traps for the Global South instead of paying their fair share. The US, EU & UK show sickening indifference while millions pay with their lives.

COP29 Conclusion: Rich Nations Block Progress on Climate Finance and Phase-out
In response the final NCQG text, Laurie van der Burg, Oil Change International Global Public Finance Manager, said: “This is outrageous. In Baku, self-proclaimed climate leaders display sickening…

Oh YAY! Oil Change International, on whose board I've served since 2017, is here on Blue Sky and there at COP29 doing their brilliant work.

Our #COP29 team has been crushing it this past week! And under very difficult circumstances considering Azerbaijan's president kicked things off by saying oil and gas is a "gift of god." Plus that whole Trump thing.

We're still fighting.

100%! Politicians need to learn when to follow and when to LEAD. People don't like politicians who triangulate. That's what got us into this mess in the first place.

People want politicians they trust will fight for them & lead with values. Not politicians who focus group test every decision.
If we listened to this Pod Save America host we would have rejected women’s suffrage and the civil rights movement

We've got a #COP29 deep dive out today →

As negotiators work to set a new climate finance goal at #COP29Baku our analysis shows we can’t accept tried & failed private-led approaches. We need good quality grants-based public finance, not more private sector debt.

COP29 Explainer: Why we can’t rely on the private sector to finance the energy transition
The deadline for a new climate finance goal (NCQG) at COP29 means the rich countries most responsible for the climate crisis are being called on to pay their fair share for a fossil fuel phaseout and…

I don't agree with everything here but I agree with a lot of it.

This is a communications problem. Whenever something bad happens, if Democrats are considered "the establishment" they'll be blamed. Trump has been a master at this - facts and reality be damned.

The lesson of this election is that Democrats must attack inequality – and not cede working-class voters to Trump
