"If I blindly tossed a dart based on all the interviews over Inaugural Weekend, no matter where it landed, the value would be unity... [O]ne and all believed that the new president would be a unifier, a healer of cultural and political divides." open.substack.com/pub/matthewk...
Hope, Hype, and Hard Truths: A Promise of Unity Conflicts with Trump’s Past and Present Rhetoric
Ahead of Trump's inauguration voters believe the new president's promises of unity and a new golden age, but his past and first month in office promise something else.

The Fraternal Order of Police rescinded their endorsement of Trump over the Jan 6 pardons. Let that sink in… By next week, the Trump administration, and all the media outlets that serve as his mouthpiece, will be bashing the FOP, if not sooner.

Based on what I heard after conducting numerous interviews this past Sunday and Monday, many have little—>no idea what the Trump administration is doing. In fact, one person told me he doesn’t need to know because if Trump is doing it, it’s good for the country.

A potential cease-fire between Israel and Hamas after 16 months of indiscriminate bombing and the absolute destruction of Gaza with American-made weapons isn’t the win you think it is.

In order for DOGE to succeed in its mission of dismantling the government, they need it unfunded and in disarray. Of course an unfunctional gov’t will exacerbate that “hardship”Elon Musk talked about, but it’ll give the new non-department* a partisan win.
It’s clear who’s in charge, and it’s not President-elect Donald Trump.

Shadow President Elon Musk spent all day railing against Republicans’ CR, succeeded in killing the bill, and then Trump decided to follow his lead.

Been thinking about the "wildness" a lot lately as I hammer out rote freelance projects. I think about it because I brush off the overwhelming urge to write something original. It's easier to write rote, harder to take on creative endeavors.

Stay wild.

The state of American healthcare is that the country is low key rooting for the guy who assassinated the United Healthcare CEO because we can't get the industry or the politicians who are supposed to regulate it to care about people.

To properly engage with this article you'd have to first wade past the narrative propaganda before tackling any facts*.

Seeing more dire stories on LinkedIn of high level professionals unable to find work and being on the verge of destitute. It hammers home the fact that the aperture into high quality jobs is even more narrow and that once there, your place isn't guaranteed.

DeSantis admitting he uses lifts would go against a few of his fundamental character traits: being heroically non self-reflective and politically dishonest.

At some point, how does nobody in the organization say “This might save us a bit of money, but is it really worth coming across as inhuman ghouls?”

(Probably a sensible question in much wider circumstances.)

⬇️ Some of the best experiences I've had at the theater as an adult. And as a parent, sans kid.
Being in an empty cinema in the middle of the day is one of life's secret pleasures. Do it more often. No one can call you. You can't check the internet. No one knows how baked you may or may not be. They have movies and snacks there, too, but that's just a bonus at this point.

A good thread pointing out how things can go badly wrong when taking an AI summary in a search result and just running with it. (See how the misinfo-spreading account is replying to corrections to see more examples of them assuming that the top line of the search result is the ultimate authority.)
When you encounter information like this, what do you do? 🧪 A thread on science misinfo.

This is a bold claim, one that stirs emotions, wonder and awe at nature. So when I see it, I'm immediately skeptical. I want to try and find a primary source.

But I can't find any study to support this.

Next time you have an idea that seems too crazy, just remember that John Woo once walked into an office and said "I wanna make a movie where Nick Cage plays John Travolta playing Nick Cage, and John Travolta plays Nick Cage playing John Travolta," and someone wrote him a check for 80 million dollars

"Looking for a freelance SEO writer for the [redacted] blog Requirement: 60 blogs/month, 1000-1200 words
Those interested, please reach out on via email [redacted]"

Yes, it's a real job posting on LinkedIn. No specs on pay and really, 60 1k-1.2k blogs a months? Not w/o AI. #writingcommunity
