I do data visualization and user-centered design of health information, civic tech, I ride bicycles, I think about chronic diseases, I make dumb jokes, and I try to stay off the internet.
I really enjoy these bike race visualizations. Here's what I usually go through:
1. Transcribe the data from PDF to CSV. The UCI's data doesn't show when somebody laps up, so I have to rewatch, take notes, and add the laps when they happen.

here are 2 pages from Ben Lerner's novel "10:04". It was published in 2014. when i read this passage recently i was struck by how well he described (and anticipate!) how ideas of wellness would be recruited for fascism-adjacent (or outright fascist!) goals.

hey #datavis - thoughts on some light mismatch between x-axis labels and the specific time intervals for the data?
quick prototype below - x-axis shows discrete years, but the values are for rolled-up years specified in the tooltip.
i can't decide if it's reasonable, or an inconsistency i hate.
