There were also out trans/nb kids, and I don't totally know how they were treated since I didn't teach any of them, but the only transphobia I heard directly came from other teachers.

It was really noticeable when I was teaching (in fairly deprived parts of Scotland) that nobody used gay as an insult any more, I wore a pride flag badge and nobody really commented on it, the kids are not alright in a general sense but on that issue it was night and day from my childhood.

That's more justifiable, since you're only missing out a few days of the year rather than a whole month, but you should IMO wait until the full year is done before publishing something. Maybe the best film/book/album etc comes out on New Year's Eve

Obviously January is the ideal time for this sort of thing, but I respect organisations like the Oscars leaving stuff until March above the ones that go now. Learn a little patience, reflect on the year that was.

Reminds me of Glinner's repeat attacks on Only Connect contestants, the GC movement opposes any trans people existing in public.

I think they probably justify it to themselves as tit for tat, because they believe their own propaganda.

It's being done by the same right wing groups which fueled the panic about cancel culture and a chilling effect on speech for academics, and now they think they've won that fight they have decided to use the imagined tactics of their enemy against them to consolidate their victory.

Its quite a funny character trait for a wannabe authoritarian to have, like he wants to lead but he is built to follow.

For example, its just as important to find out whether voters care strongly about an issue as it is to work out their position on it, but most popularists just list a bunch of policy ideas that poll well and assume they'll win an election.

The particularly annoying thing is when its proponents advance it as though its a foolproof strategy that nobody else supports, while its drawn on the most basic ideas and doesn't even attempt to account for more complex issues relating to popularity.

Yeah they need to keep them around in case they finally decide to do the Scottish Independence arc from the comics, but they keep putting that off so they have to sort of jog in place until then.

I think if you *really* felt you had to retain some possibility of continuity you just imply the new Bond is a different guy taking on the 007 identity. Its not that hard of an issue to write around.

The whole scene is mocking Bob for having given up on his revolutionary ideas and destroyed his mind with drugs.

He says he's between the stolen lands of two tribes, I don't remember specifically which tribes, but basically one was from New England and the other was in California. He's deliberately taking the piss. The joke is on Bob for not knowing.

Men, as we all know, would never suppress their feelings.
