Everyone has a 1-2 season TV show they sorely miss and not enough people knew about that you are always praising the heavens about.

Every morning I wake up and wonder the all-important question: Will Beulah’s Yoko ever be issued on vinyl in my lifetime?

In honor of the first truly sweltering day of Summer, here’s a playlist I made of some of greatest, gently psychedelic, harmony-laden slices of sunshine pop to complement the unbearable heatwave settling upon us! It’s not on Spotify, sorry. 🤷‍♀️

One of my very favorite Brian moments occurs on the 1968 Beach Boys masterpiece Friends, where he spends a majority of the 3:04 runtime of "Busy Doin' Nothin'" giving you directions to his house should you maybe want to come hang out with him.

RIP to Sly Stone. Calling someone a genius has mostly lost meaning, except when you apply it to Sly.

I'm glad Questlove gave him a revealing and rewarding documentary with SLY LIVES (AKA THE BURDEN OF BLACK GENIUS). I wrote about it for @ebertvoices.bsky.social.
Sly Lives! (aka The Burden of Black Genius) movie review (2025) | Roger Ebert
“Sly Lives! (aka The Burden of Black Genius)” is a sonic kick to the soul.

i don't have a spotify wrapped, because i switched to apple music in august, but if there was one it would probably be 200 thousand plays of the stellar magdalena bay lp, a bunch of mid-60s soul/r&b, and the byrds.

Treating myself to going extra hard on Christmas music this year. This Del Vetts tune from 1961 is new to me, but I’m gonna wring the life out of this one.
