Tl;dr just having a cert or being hired at a gym doesn't mean they're any good, they might even be really bad for you. I'd get someone recommended to you or with documented results

A lot of my coworkers were into working out but weren't particularly knowledgeable or even really successful in their own training. One of the guys who was was just a roid head who's programming was fully dangerous to clients. So

I'll talk some mad shit (when won't I), I ended up having to take my PT cert exam in the middle of my PhD quals (they wouldn't let me postpone) so I didn't study at all and still passed. I learned it later then got a gig training at a gym. There,
