Wynonna Earp. Great concept, great execution, great character. Ridiculously lorge gun. For me she harkens back to the halcyon Sci-Fi Channel days of Darien Fawkes The Invisible Man.

Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf is one of my favorite B horror movies and Vasile played by Czech actor Jiri Krytinar is one of my fave side characters and monster hunters. A tragic hero, this badass little person hunted werewolves to avenge his sibling and threw knives like nobody’s business.

Simon Belmont was a smoke show leather daddy who was just cursed to battle Dracula forever. I always felt for the dude. Also Super Castlevania IV remains one of the greatest video games ever made and the best entry in one of the greatest horror video game franchises of all time.

G vs E (Good vs. Evil) was this wonderfully low-budget 70s exploitation influenced cable show from the millennium and Clayton Rohner as Chandler, who is killed by demons and brought back to kill THEM as part of the Corps, was a great lead. He wasn’t a warrior. He was just a tenacious little dude.

Taylor from Poltergeist II: The Other Side isn’t a “monster hunter” in the classic sense, he’s more of a protector. But I’ve always loved Will Sampson’s performance in this movie so much and he never gets talked about among great horror characters and the og post in this thread has 50 likes already.

Samuel Le Bihan as Fronsac, the other half of the greatest bromance ever told on film in Brotherhood of the Wolf. A charming rogue who doesn’t take anything seriously until everything is taken from him. Then he goes on a rampage. I also love BotW because the real monster (SPOILER) is the people.

Mani from Brotherhood of the Wolf, one of my favorite Mark Dacascos roles that isn’t The Chairman. He spends most of it silently McQueening and kicking people, and you love him for it. He’s also one-half of the greatest bromance ever told on film. He’s also a walking thirst trap.

If you’ve never seen Jordan Downey’s 2018 film The Head Hunter it’s one of coolest micro budget movies ever made. The titular character is haunted and tragic and deeply relatable. He doesn’t speak a single word but by the end of the story you know everything about him. One of my favorite MH flicks.

I love a reluctant monster hunter, and that’s Veris in Premee Mohamed’s The Butcher of the Forest, forced to enter a forest that could be called a monster itself, on a rescue mission. This whole book breaks my heart, but Veris wins my heart every time I reread it.

Donald Pleasance was and always will be the star of the Halloween franchise to me. As Dr. Samuel Loomis his descent over the course of the movies, especially 4 & 5, into the scarred wholly obsessed Captain Ahab-like pursuer of Michael Myers is so tragic and captivating. A monster hunter all-timer.

Manticore-hunting Ester and Zahra, her mythic creature partner in crime, are a fantastic character study of grief and obsession and the bonds of trauma and ultimately hope. They’re also just hard af. They make Fonda Lee’s Untethered Sky one of my favorite works of monster hunter fiction.

His name wasn’t Fat Kid, his name *chik-chik* was Horace. He kicked Wolfman in the nards. He cold blasted Gill-man, Oran “Juice” Jones style. He was one of my earliest fat kid avatars. F*ck Chunk from the Goonies. It’s all about Horace.

It doesn’t get cooler than Rudy, MVP of The Monster Squad. It just doesn’t. He was the preteen’s platonic ideal of teenage badassdom. He had all the best lines. He was a friend and defender of fat kids (which I was). I would have gone to hell and back with/for Rudy as a lad.

I mean, listen, call me a basic Mitch but how can we start it out with anyone other than Peter Cushing as Van Helsing? He’s iconic for a reason. Also appropriate since @eflind.bsky.social was the first one to like this thread.

I have rewatched Dead Heat three times this month and it is a flick I enjoy more with each passing year. The monster makeup and practical fx are fire, the camp is fantastically dialed up, the cast is great. It’s a scifi zombie 80s buddy cop movie starring Treat Williams and Joe Piscopo. C’mon.

I don’t understand how we as a society are not talking about Rebecca Ferguson in M:I Rogue Nation all the time. Like, how is this convo not happening 24/7. It doesn’t even make sense to discuss anything else tbh.

#TBT My first pro-wrestling match, 1998. This was the inaugural student show at the school I attended that subsequently became my home, the Doghouse in Queens, NYC. Gone but not forgotten.

Yeah soak everything that can be soaked (nothing with stickers or soft goods) with a little power wash and then hit ‘em with the toothbrush and/or q-tips and/or scrub brush. Alcohol to remove any markings or ink/paint that got on ‘em.

Spent all day yesterday meticulously cleaning all these carded vintage toys I bought in a giant lot. The stuff had been outside or in garages and barns forever. It was filthy. Some of the packaging wasn’t salvageable but I saved most of what I took. It was highly satisfying. Yes, I’m a giant weirdo.
