Just completed some baselgovernance.org online courses and I have to say they're quite good 😀💪
Interactive, concrete, concise.

April 2025: Meta €200 million fine
April 2025: Apple €500 million fine
May 2025: TikTok €530 million fine

The European Commission is on fire 🔥
But it'd be even better to do something preventively...

Sidenotes:
- Meta's profit last year: $62 billion
- Apple's profit last year: $94 billion

Is this the beginning of the end for the AI bubble?

Could the following be first signs:

- A 🇩🇪 study AI will not trigger a significant productivity boost.
- Microsoft "effectively abandoned data center expansion equivalent to over 14% of its current capacity" from Ed Zitron's newsletter
👀

Watching The Expanse lately (super late, I know).
Can'stop comparing the protomolecule with AI:
-losing control
-every nation fighting over it
-a few ultra rich deciding for the rest of the world

Difference (so far, watched 2 first series only):
the protomolecule seems to work.
AI? Meh....

If one day we were to take part in a war (against? 👀 ), how would the people of Europe react?

Are Hungarians ready to fight (and pay) for Denmark?
Are Italians ready to fight (and pay) for Estonia?

I guess it's time to look big to prevent all of this to happen...
The EU is a great idea, but a shaky construction. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't exist in the next years.

Absolutely not what I wish.

With the rise of nationalisms in Europe fuelled by Trump & Musk.
Some are already in power. How will they behave? Are they playing for the EU?

I see that the SAP's boss read my article 😀

Let's not forget that just 4 years ago, Twitter and Facebook banned Trump. Fast forward to now: both platforms are in his pocket.

This shift is solely because he's back in power, whereas back then, Democrats were in control.

Capitalism aligns with power, regardless of its nature.

We're waking up a bit (too) late but EU has tools in place to fight this threat. DSA, GDPR: let's use them and take action.

And what can we - users - do? -> use decentralised and/or 🇪🇺 tools (Mastodon 👀)

"More broadly, this is another warning of how our information space – which underpins our democracies and societal conversations – is so strongly in the hands of a few individuals who can make such blatantly self-interested decisions."
And that needs to change.
Mark Zuckerberg’s decision to gut moderation & fact-checking on Instagram, Facebook and Threads shows he prioritizes pleasing #Trump over societal well-being. Moving moderation to Texas? A transparent ploy for Republican approval, not ‘de-biasing.’
