IMO the Lamar + Henry combo in a backfield and what it does for the offense make conventional arguments about RB contracts and RB value meaningless.
On Henry extension: maybe it's something they had to do for locker room, morale, retirement threat, etc. But on paper you should/would never do that move.
They had a (great) 31-year-old RB at 1/7. Retained option to franchise tag and make it 2/21.2. Now they have him at 2/25 fully guaranteed.
