Fall semester of my freshman year we pretty much had a course about "how to college" essentially.
One day our prof talked about why you should get a credit card to work the system and not to have the system work you.
Clearly effective as it's stuck with me to this day.

When I told the people who were part of the decision make process that it would balkanize one of the last classes that everyone took together bc there were no different levels of 10th ELA I was told, "Well we need to have more college prep to change kids."
I drove home in silence that day.

[Seriously. It started as part of a 2-year AP elective program and no students took it because they didn't have room in their schedule. So the CB decided to rebrand it as 10th grade English.]
