According to Stack Overflow 2023 Developer Survey, Matrix is the #1 chat tool by current users' satisfaction.  It's also the most desirable among the FOSS tools listed, but there is a lot of room for improvement. Let's build on this in 2024! 🚀

A chart plotting how much various chat tools are desired and how much they are admired. 72.73% of current Matrix users like it and plan to continue using it, but only 4.41% of people who don't use Matrix yet are aware of it and want to use it. Other chat tools ranked include Slack, Discord, Teams, Meet, Zoom, Whatsapp, Telegram, Signal, IRC, Mattermost, Jitsi, Zulip, and Rocketchat among others.
