You knew me as @here_comes_B on that other place.
It's just not happening in fancy neighborhoods and it is not happening in diverse, mixed areas. National pride? From a bunch of guys who know the first line of Land of Hope and Glory only and imagine King Charles can boot the govt out? Clowns.
Why do people think England flags have been raised on lampposts?

Anti-migrant/minority sentiment: 49%

Ethnic minority adults

The number one question for Reform voters needs to be "how do you hope to pay for more expensive and infinitely less available healthcare?" Because the NHS can't exist under these conditions. My guess is an older, less wealthy electorate also much more dependent on free healthcare.

The opening track on the new Besnard Lakes album sounds like the East 17 Christmas song. And I am here for that. (Not as much as that Taylor Swift song sounds like Pixies "Where is my mind?".)

It's like literally any chance they get, they'll put Farage on. It's dreadful. I don't get it at all as Tim Davie is a total Tory but few have done as much as the BBC in platforming Farage/UKIP/Brexit Party/Reform
*Again* the top story on BBC 6 music is about immigration

How is Shabana Mahmood wanting to introduce a ‘Danish style’ system for refugees the top story this morning?!?

The obsession of 6 Music news on immigration and asylum is frankly bizarre

What I find pretty awful is you can sense that his first thought is something like "I will look weak next to this other old person who has a medical emergency, so I had better stand up straight and ignore it."
Which is pretty despicable.
The Sociopath-In-Chief couldn't be bothered to even turn his head in the direction of a man in the midst of a medical emergency who collapsed in his office. Completely incapable of empathy, the EPSTEIN Files can't be released soon enough.

That and the fact that there is a huge disparity of so much between international cities and smaller towns/countryside.
“London and New York, two of the west’s largest, richest, and most diverse cities are now run by Muslim men, both of them elected on the ticket of left wing, pro-LGBT, pro-multicultural parties…The victory is a reminder of the fundamental weakness of Trumpism, Faragism, and the politics of hate.”
Mamdani shows a different way is possible
The New York mayor’s resounding victory is a warning to Trump and his own party’s old guard

Again, I don't care. I don't see what difference it makes. Also, excluding minorities or less well abled people potentially minimises the profits a Corp can make. And why would they do that? I don't think these people know how capitalism works

I really don't care. I don't need to see a white person drinking a pepsi to want to buy a Pepsi.
27% of white Britons say they don't feel well represented in advertising in terms of their race, with Reform MP Sarah Pochin causing a row on the subject

White Britons
Well represented: 65%

I only saw one. And it was on a dad. Sort of a goth superman.
I know it's anecdotal and incomplete data, but there were noticeably fewer superhero costumes out last night. Of the 30 or so kids that came to my door, there was only one (Batman).

On the same night, two little boys dressed as Kneecap!

I did a work event in the Groucho once and I sent this to all the people who came. It's so cool.
I know nothing about Dr Who, but, for Londoners, the phrase "Going For Dinner With Billie Piper" is the absolute best way to remember the order of the vertical streets running east to west in Soho (Greek, Frith, Dean, Wardour, Berwick, Poland) and has saved many a late night out

What gets my goat is halfwit politicians making racist comments who don't even understand how capitalism works. If adverts include "people who look like me", they will appeal and people will buy more stuff.
If Pochin wants to only see white folks, is she prepared for a slump in consumption?
To the surprise of nobody, Grok is sharing an innumerate and exaggerated defence of Sarah Pochin's comments, which is being widely celebrated by those with as or more prejudiced views than those expressed by Pochin.

Farage is performer in everything. Like Trump is an entertainer.

We don't need these people in politics. We need people who can achieve things.

Govt and oppo parties should go down the hospitals and look at who is doing all the jobs there. Anti-immigrant or racist pronouncements should be followed by a caveat that the NHS would fall apart on Day One of any ethnonationalist purge.
It's easy to look at public statements purely through a prism of free speech. But words have consequences. Being *legally permitted* to say awful things, doesn't mean we must all go around saying them. The bare minimum should not be the most we can expect. ~AA
