Coming back here because I know there are film people. saw bugonia. Spoilers ahead.

Why is nobody talking about the policeman? In general am not 100% sure how I feel about Bugonia but the reveal that the policeman SA’d Teddy as a child is the most confounding element. And nobody is mentioning it.

Even though it’s based on a short story The Lost Lands is W. S. Anderson’s second best video game movie. (Retribution on top)

Nothing to be upset at the Oscars about this year, in my opinion, though they were wrong on all of their shorts choices.

I definitely didn’t love Anora as much as most people though, disappointed by the sweep

Everyone always is saying “you’ve gotta watch severance” so I finally am.

And you know what - fair. It’s really incredible

Rent might have been my least favorite movie I ever watched.

(Context. I like rent the musical)

15 minutes into the Rent movie and I don’t know that I can get through this. What happened in the adaptational process why is it like this??
I’m so upset honestly

Just watched "The Hurt Locker" and maybe im a bad person but I simply could not be asked to care about the US soldiers in the movie

particularly because they aren't even upset about being there. Eventually they get traumatized into hating the war, but they chose it. They joke about it while killing

Also watched "A Complete Unknown" today. Made me think about my love for classic story telling folk, and the current artists still making that music.

Current recommendation for all: Willie Carlisle. Big fan

First day of the year getting a little movie tired. Or maybe I’m just dehydrated.

I did watch Presence though and I loved it! Though I can see it being opinion splitting boxd.it/8EBwGr
A ★★★★ review of Presence (2024)
Far from a typical horror movie, but there are a solid 30 minutes of pure anxiety, inducing, dread in here.  I’m kinda obsessed with Presence. I was in to the slow burn family drama, I was (practicall...

So glad I finally rewatched Castration Movie. Already liked it the first time, but watching it while not fighting against sleep was a better experience!

Wrote a nonsense word vomit review: boxd.it/Lgym

Finished @levgrossman.bsky.social 's "The Bright Sword". Loved it

Something I particularly like is how despite playing with grimdark realism (it swears! describes city sewage! Has no shortage of rape and murder!) it ultimately is very optimistic. Despite all the dark there is brightness to humanity

Reading “The Bright Sword” by Lev Grossman, who’s “The Magicians” series’s I absolutely adore.

100 pages in and it’s very good. Idk how it can thread the tone between taking itself seriously and Community references, but it sure does

Followed up "The Celebration" with "The Idiots". Moved to tears and sick to my stomach. Can't think of any other movies that have shook me in quite this way.
Half of me wants to decry it as a piece of trash, worst film ever made. Half of me thinks its perfect

I don't recommend it though 📽️

First watch that blew me away so far this year. Have to watch "The Hunt" now.
Is it as good? - Another Round wasn't my favorite

I fully need someone to sit me down and teach me how to enjoy slow cinema.

Tried to watch Tropical Malady but this post could be about any, Kiarostami, Tarkovsky, etc.

I simply cannot sit and keep focus on these types of movies for 2+ hours. Really feel like I’m missing out.

Winter Break reading 5 (and probably final because I leave for school on saturday)

Log Off - Katherine Cross

Very persuasive book about not engaging in politics or what social media makes feel like politics on social media. Gonna be a lot more thoughtful about posting.

Not logging off though lol
