It's depressing how long these things have taken to plan and implement.

The forests there are a hot mess. If they were doing good environmental protection/preservation, you could at least consider their argument, but that is not at all the case. Every stretch of urban forest in that area is a full trees being slowly strangled by invasive vines.

I just don't get it. They barely maintain any of those parks, and it's hard to even imagine how a 10' wide strip of asphalt of the edge of a massive, lightly-used field would cause any environmental/preservation issues.

That would be great! The trail on Riggs is already overcrowded w/ the school right there. The NPS land there is essentially abandoned, and the forestry & ecosystem professionals I know say the invasive species are so bad that it would be a monumental effort to make those forests healthy again.

Interesting. Hopefully this leads to bike facilities on L St as well.

This is great! You know when it will open?

#3 & 4 seem pretty doubtful, since you can already get to Columbus Circle via M St and 1st St NE, entirely on protected bike lanes.

Thanks. This makes more sense.

The issue is that the trail is very popular, as it's by far the safest way to cross NY Ave, which is still a deadly car sewer. The trail is also way too narrow and floods regularly. These speed signs are a band-aid at best. What are you doing to solve the actual problems?

So, are you saying that because one time someone organized an "abundance" conference and invited a bunch of wackos, I should no longer advocate for more housing in cities?

Come on.
Pushing for triplexes in wealthy suburbs ≠ bulldoze the wetlands.

Why not both?

For buses, I don't see it. Your own data says the percentage of planned bus trips that were actually delivered is at a 3 year low. Missed trips -> people standing around waiting for a no-show bus: late for work, school, appointments, etc. www.wmata.com/about/record... @wmatagm.bsky.social

Probably the same reason why there's a line around the block when Ben and Jerry's gives out free ice cream.

I dunno, I've seen quite a big shift back to paying fares in DC. I haven't or heard of any bus fare enforcement efforts, but i have seen that the outside display on every single bus now says "Fare required"

Or a triplex...

Thanks. Given the Streetview from the year before, it's a new building, and the design is quite nice.
