A teacher in Idaho has been told to remove posters reading "Everyone is welcome here" - specifically because it features different skin tones. As I wrote last week, this is a global political movement that has explicitly set the goal of eradicating the very concept of equality.
West Ada teacher stands firm after she’s told to remove ‘Everyone is welcome here’ signs
Sarah Inama said she was told by administrators that her signs “don’t allow people to express differing opinions.”

This is a great idea. Do you know anyone in Congress you can talk to?
Congress must take action to restore the rule of law.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

For Blue Monday we can't think of anything more appropriate than this charming depiction of a man getting his face eaten off by a leopard.

Ok #booksky, let’s talk.

👎🏼Goodreads, owned by Amazon, fuels its monopoly on books.

Love this perspective! Two years ago I set a really ambitious goal and ended up hating many of the books I read. I’d skim through a book just to finished it so I could hit my goal.

From then on I decided I’d only read books I enjoy, and care less about the size of my #DNF pile
“What’s your reading goal?”

𝙏𝙤 𝙚𝙣𝙟𝙤𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙄 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙.

This year I didn’t set up a reading goal. I didn’t love the social pressure and comparisons. The feeling of having to rush to get onto your next read.

I’m just seeing where the year takes me! So far it has been amazing! 💙📚

Most of the time, I spend Sundays meal prepping and cleaning.

Other times, I pick up a week’s worth of frozen breakfast sandwiches and meals so that I’ll at least have *something* to eat, and spend the rest of the day lounging.

I’ll give you one guess what kind of Sunday it is for me 😂

I’m heartbroken that TikTok is dark, and I’m certain even if it comes back it’ll never be the same.

But I’m crying happy tears that #booksky is taking off! The readers & dreamers will always find each other.

It is a relief to know that our ancestors were worriers — awake in the darkness with crowded minds. Their worry is why we’re here.
Word of the Day is ‘uhtcearu’ [ucht-kay-aru, with the 'ch' as in the Scottish ‘loch']:

Old English for ‘the sorrow before dawn', when you lie awake in the darkness and worries crowd your mind.

Every time someone says listening to audiobooks isn't reading, we should tell them a ton of spoilers because we do we know? We haven't read it.. 📚💙

I’ve mentioned this before, but if you’re short on cash but have an urge to shop, go to your library digital apps and browse the books, audiobooks, movies, shoes, magazines. It works really well to give you the same feeling without spending the cash. (Plus you’re supporting public libraries.) 💙📚
