The reintroduction of wild turkeys to NH about 30-40 years ago has been a smash success. Many people hunt them now because their population has exploded.

The reintroduction of wild turkeys to NH about 30-40 years ago has been a smash success. Many people hunt them now because their population has exploded.
There were 17 in all in this flock. Fortunately, they didn’t all decide to visit the bird feeder. I’ll buy some cracked corn to sprinkle in the driveway for them.

At this time of year, moose eat fir boughs and nibble buds off a variety of woody shrubs, including striped maple, hobblebush, willow, & many others. She looked in pretty good shape so I think she’ll survive the winter. There’s plenty of forage for her in the woods. (The bear ate the apples.)
