Happy 4th! Fun fact: after the election I needed a new joyful hobby, something I could do to celebrate our eventual defeat of fascism. I’m teaching myself to twirl
The relief I just felt cramming a 17 lb bird into a 2 gallon bag - unmatched

Reading this thread feels like that old Eddie Murphy sketch where he goes undercover as a white man and is like "... hold it" (also: tell me again that gossiping is a "feminized" vice lol)
Deepak Chopra asking Epstein if Trump is crazy in March 2017 (after the "Obama wiretapped Trump Tower" nonsense).

They are not equivalent, but I do think every now and again about how the energy in both parties can be summed up as "fight fight fight"

Perhaps we'll just age out of the middle school cafeteria
@jamellebouie.net to @maryharris.bsky.social:

"[T]he divide among Democrats is not so much progressive and moderate. ...The most salient divide is how willing are you to fight and what’s your inclination towards concession and capitulation? That’s the difference."

This was a blast. Always grateful for a place to unpack gender and how much I’m ruining my workplace. (Ask me for tips!)

I dunno man, if you're gonna run an interview with a Trump admin official that was recorded BEFORE he threw tear gas at a bunch of protestors but you air it AFTER I think it's on you to mention it

There have been 10 weeks of school so far in NYC. Only three of those weeks have been COMPLETE weeks, due to the abundance of holidays. (I refuse to count halloween week as a complete one - it just isn't.) Anyway, hang in there y'all

Just submitted my Spotify wrapped video (!) and to all the people who get it (mom?) please know I *tried* to do a version where I sprinted from my old studio (in a closet!) to my new one (with video!) but I could not achieve it in 30 seconds

Real perk of my job is getting to call up @jamellebouie.net and chew over big news like the Dems' cave on the government shutdown. Give it a listen: slate.com/podcasts/wha...

The thing about this "historical fact" nonsense is that.. gender was not listed on passports until recently?? Like: 70s, 80s. So: it's a "historical fact" that this data point is... not meaningful
On the blog: In approving Trump's transphobic policy of listing sex assigned at birth on passports, SCOTUS said govt was "merely attesting to a historical fact," thus echoing the obtuseness of Plessy v Ferguson's statement that Black folks were only choosing to see segregation as white supremacy. 👇

I wish the Dems were just less OBVIOUS. Like, somehow in a convo I had with @jvl.bsky.social the other week, *I* am now the Eeyore who could see where this was heading.

Reasons I live in NYC:
- the Cambodian food I ate on Friday
- the khati roll and ceviche I ate on Saturday
- the Jewish and Iranian pastries I ate today
- the mango pulp I picked up at the Bengali grocer across from the bumpin’ dog park

I listened to the arguments at the Supreme Court in the big tariff case, so you don't have to.

This is the energy, put it straight in my veins
I’ve never felt unsafe on a NYC subway. A few months ago, I was on one that stopped for about a half hour because of some malfunction, and a spontaneous dance party broke out.
A lot of people talk about how the NYC subway “feels dangerous” but please allow me to present the Dinosaur Bodega that was installed in my local stop
