My dad arrived stateside on a US naval ship as a refugee in the late 50s. He spoke not a word of English. He washed dishes, worked through college, earned several degrees.
One thing remained constant throughout his lifetime. He always washed the dishes. Did so quietly, with humility & gratitude. 🕊️
