Mental health social worker and military historian (MA), interested in Psychiatry in the Second World War. Collector of spaniels. Will bore on request. Fun at parties.
Sofa chilling, after the first Canicross of the season this morning, I’m telling myself that being on-call means I have to stay on the sofa for the rest of the day just in case.

The memorial at Monowitz is hard to find, and behind a convenience store, somewhat jarring that the remains of buildings sit amongst a modern industrial estate. Its connection with wartime atrocities unacknowledged but ever present.

When you find yourself somewhat mesmerised by @scaramucci.bsky.social an excellent speaker, humorous and self deprecating of course, but more than that, insightful on personal resilience and hopeful for a post-Trump world.

When your dog is 11 on Friday and you’ve left it too late to order the bespoke birthday dog biscuits. Will she forgive me if I get the dog equivalent of a Colin the Caterpillar?

Going through a load of 40 year old computer bits from parents’ loft. Found a fabulous reply from the author of one of the manuals Dr Czes Kosniowski of Newcastle University. Dad wrote to him regarding the absence of pi in the manual…

We’re in the process of clearing my Dad’s house, we’ve accepted an offer and he’s moving into a care home. A huge step for us all. The loft revealed many of our childhood toys, one of which was much loved ‘Sweep’. Douglas has adopted him as a new ‘cuddly’, Sweep has purpose once again.

It was a lovely evening, fabulous company. What’s discussed at the Christmas meal, stays at the Christmas meal. Very pleased with my haul (niche? Me?)

“My name is Douglas,
Two days ago I scoffed a box of mince pies that were left out of my reach. My human had to rush me to the vet at 10pm at night through a storm. It cost her £630 for me to be sick. I feel fine now”

Feeling under the weather today, spaniels dragged me out of the house, they told me it’s a lovely morning, and so it proved.
