Genuinely confusing to me that people don’t see “activists” cashing in on social movements in order to build a personal career in politics so they can network with lobbyists and wealthy shareholders and become nouveau rich as a form of hucksterism.

Anti-racist education was #5 on the Black Panther Party's ten-point program. Before that, white slave-owners tortured and murdered enslaved people for learning to read. The Nazis burned books before they burned people. Destruction of knowledge is always a precursor to genocide.
I’m definitely down to call the anti-DEI crusade - “segregation.” And let’s acknowledge it doesn’t stop at white supremacy. The anti-trans bathroom bans, the threats on marriage equality, and so much more fall under this umbrella too. Most refuse to see the overlap though.
This is great work.
Another way to say these businesses are “erasing progress” is that they are re-segregating. The latter more pointedly gets at what’s at stake.
