Saw a nice job advertised - digital technology and collections role. Part time 4 days a week onsite in central London. £28k. When you minus the season ticket costs for commuting, I may as well take the cafe job at my local community centre offering £21k for the same amount of hours. It’s pathetic.

A fab weekend, tipped off by a day at The Grange at a charity concert for the Meath. Lots of glitz, top loaded with AAA opera talent.

It’s the Nipper’s last official day at school. A level exams begin next week. All the 6th formers are in fancy dress: cowboys, Mexican bandits, even my nephew has gone as Dionysus. The Nipper? She’s gone dressed as Philomena Cunk and is blasting out Pump up the Jam on a Bluetooth speaker.

I am in the office (v rare nowadays). The gas lift on my chair is giving up the ghost and every few seconds a gentle judder brings me closer to the floor.

Loving the latest episodes of #Andor, not least because I worked in one of the buildings used as a location for a rebel conspiracy. I knew the lunar module shape of the Aldermens’ Court in Guildhall would come in handy one day.

When old bosses from jobs-past contact you out of the blue requiring help with something, and you help them, and then they show you exactly why you’re happy you’re not working for them anymore. That.

Took the day off today as we had to drop the Nipper off at the airport at 3 am this morning. She’s off to visit the Large Hadron Collider and spend a few days in Switzerland. I am very envious.

Working from home in a gloriously sunny day. From my window I can see two boys riding go-karts down the street, having a great time. I’d give anything to be 10 again for a day (doing age appropriate japes and things, not 10 and stuck doing 50 yr old’s work, obvs).
