In case any of my American friends need a boost, here’s Pete Seeger lifting hearts at a pivotal time in the USA. Hard to believe that it’s all to do again, and more…
But “I do believe, we shall overcome…”

Word of the day is ‘foozle’, from the 19th century: of a golfer, to bungle a shot. More generally, to make a complete mess of something.

Honestly, we found this flyleaf graffiti from a disgruntled reader quite encouraging. You can't please all of the people all of the time and all that.

I've paid my landlord's mortgage off over the last 20 years, and in 3 months, I'll be homeless because he's pushing the rent up again. Until we treat housing as a human right for all, rather than a profit-making commodity for the few, we'll never see an end to homelessness and insecure housing ❤️🚩✊🏾

US Higher Ed dominance was built by refugees fleeing the Nazis. It’s just extraordinary the talent they recruited and in following generations. What comes around goes around.
I'll say it again: US global dominance in higher ed, forged in the mid-late twentieth century, may well be coming to an end over the next four years.
BREAKING: Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine on Friday signed into law a massive higher education overhaul to ban diversity efforts, regulate classroom discussion, and prohibit faculty strikes, among other things. The law will take effect in 90 days.
