Ontario is heading toward a major teacher shortage. Only 30% of teachers are under 40, and schools struggle daily w/ staff shortages. Years of underfunding and fewer supports are driving people away. Ontario needs a real recruitment plan so students can get the education they deserve. #OntEd #OnPoli
Ontario needs a teacher recruitment plan - CCPA
In this year’s fall economic statement, the Ontario government repeatedly stated its intention to protect the province’s economy and people “for decades to come.” Talk is cheap. The document didn’t include any new and substantial investment, as discussed in the CCPA same-day analysis.

1 in 5 Ontario workers earn less than a living wage — and it’s women & racialized workers who are hit hardest.

Instead of investing in people, the PC government keeps cutting... Ontario deserves FAR better than a race to the bottom. #OSSTF #OntEd #OnPoli

Barely hanging on - CCPA
More than a million workers in Ontario do not earn a living wage where they live—especially women and racialized workers. We calculated this estimate using the 10 hourly living wage rates released by the Ontario Living Wage Network (OLWN) and applied them as a threshold across the province.
