You won't be any better at fighting what's coming if you burn yourself out and spend all your time feeling bleak and hopeless, and the people telling you that it's all despair now probably don't have anyone's best interest at heart.

remember that being outraged prevents us from being organized. every minute he will do something dumb. stay focused on what’s important. research, analyze, and focus together. avoid petty infighting. we are more when we unite together.

1/ I keep returning to one core thought: civics education really matters. It’s absence, at least in part, is what makes a Donald Trump and a MAGA movement possible.

Struggling with this book recommendation assignment where the person I’m recommending things to has given me nothing. I’m so sorry to my childhood librarian when I said I just wanted “fantasy” and nothing else

It's weird that Looking for Alaska is the second-most banned book in the U.S., and mostly challenged by evangelical Christians, because the novel is about Radical Hope and how forgiveness is available to all people at all times, which are Christian concepts I wrote about because I'm a Christian.

“The axle underneath and the railing that ran round the car were bespattered with clots of blood thrown up by the horses' hoofs, and from the tires of the wheels; but the son of Peleus pressed on to win still further glory, and his hands were bedrabbled with gore”

I’m baffled by how many people dislike turkey. It’s so delicious my family has to make 2 or 3 birds for a family of 5.

Yes, libraries are invaluable for their collections and public services they offer, but also social contact without the expectation to interact with anyone or spend any money is so important to so many people

if you have access to a local library … USE ITS RESOURCES!

visit! check out books, even if you end up returning them unread. sign up for programming! request new books!

libraries are some of the best community spots around and it’s so easy to support them & help them continue to get funding!

Just my 2 cents. But my goal is to ignore the trolls. Give them zero attention. Block them if they annoy me.

I think the worst thing we can do on this site is re-create the ad hominem/ personal attacks that occur across comments on Twitter/insta/tiktok/ etc

Anti-book ban legislation has been proposed in Michigan.

I had a chance to look at the proposals from the state library association months ago and they're GOOD.

Michigan may join several other states in being an anti-book ban leader soon.

You can’t have the Sunday scares if you start your work week on a Sunday (and all of my class work is due in 3 hours, will I finish this paper in time? There is no time for fear)

Your librarian here with today's library tip

Check out both the Libby and Hoopla app. Both offer ebooks and e-audiobooks. You don't need a Kindle to use them, you can read or listen on your phone, computer, and are compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
