(I always thought the framing of 'Same-sex marriage' started out from a losing position. That the movement never got to frame the issue under a more appropriate name of 'marriage equity' or 'marriage equality' was IMO a mistake. I'm not sure what if there is a lesson here wrt trans rights, though.)
After years of meeting with political operatives and pollsters and reporters, I've noticed a tendency to compare the situation for trans rights today with the fight for same-sex marriage, often implying the former is failing where the latter succeeded. This is a mistake for a few critical reasons.

The message you shared was rather reductionist and provocative. I can't imagine you'd be surprised that some responded with hostility, especially as a significant portion of your body of work derives directly from preexisting IP. The drive towards perpetual (c) may prevent that in the future. 1/?
That's a very Twitter way of responding. Why not talk about the issues? Or let it go? Random insults just get you blocked and then nobody learns or changes.

IME from several (small market) Gaming/SF ConComs, that's pretty what we offered GoHs -- that is Travel, Lodging, and Food for them and one companion (For the Cons in question, Pros already got free admission). Fan-run cons don't usually pay appearance fees (to the best of my knowledge).
Many cons just don't seem to budget for it, at least for simple panelist / "give a talk"-type-stuff. My impression is that Guests of Honor and the like tend to get lodgings + travel + maybe more sometimes?... but that's signing up to work for much of the con, not just a single presentation.

It really depends on how you define conservative. I'm as progressive as I've ever been socially, economically, and politically.

I'm a whole lot less tolerant of 'both sides'-ism, of change-for-the-sake-of-change, and of leaps-of-faith, as I no longer trust the good intentions of the masses.
RT only if you are NOT becoming more conservative as you grow older.

At what point did 'actively waiting for the revolution' become my prediction for the most viable means for progressive social, political, and economic reform?

The internet may be the best tool in history for access to information. It has unfortunately also shown why that isn't always a good thing.

A few days ago, I offered my first Bluesky code to a friend who is blind. She went to set it up, but discovered that it was inaccessible for her. (She navigates using an extra-large system font, which apparently renders the app unusable.) Bluesky, do better—inaccessibility renders us all poorer.

Well, I'm here, now.

Lets see if I use it any more frequently as any other social media platform I've joined.
