A reminder of my new blog post on Brexit reminders
Brexit reminders. New post on my Brexit & Brexitism Blog. Brexit may not be in the headlines, but many current news stories carry reminders of it, including the Hallett Inquiry report, the Gill scandal, the Budget & the latest net migration figures: chrisgreybrexitblog.blogspot.com/2025/11/brex...

So true. We need to get out of the doom loop.
Awful lot of people seem to think houses used to fall off trees, jobs were well paid and lovely, people were lovely to each other, and everyone could afford holidays every day.

Of course life isn't perfect now. But it never was. And in many ways it is much better.

Great to see that Chris Davies has found the right line up and is adapting. We are starting to click. Trust the process #bcfc #kro

There is another country. New post on my Brexit & Brexitism Blog discussing the thuggery, sanctimony and hypocrisy of the last fortnight, and how Starmer should lead in articulating an alternative version of patriotism to that of the far-right: chrisgreybrexitblog.blogspot.com/2025/09/ther...

Wonderful season for the Blues. Didn’t expect us to get promoted and win the league so easily. So unlike us. Anyway, next season will be a different proposition. 💙 #bcfc #kro

#Posh were much the better team and fully deserved their victory. Congratulations to them 🎉. We will learn from the that and in the long run it will help our development. Let’s finish the season with the highest EFL points total. #kro #bcfc

This is an excellent report/ analysis. FWIW I think Starmer is handling this incredibly difficult situation about as well as possible, even if it's not pretty, and distasteful for those who demand absolute moral purity in politics.
By me: how ultra-pragmatist Keir Starmer is still trying to get the US back on board over Ukraine with careful diplomacy, and how this ties in with his long disavowal of what he calls the ‘politics of protest’.

Shameful decision from Sweden which has no excuse for exterminating wolves like this. Imagine India decided to halve its tiger population, or Kenya its lions? There'd be an outcry.

Govt departments, police forces, universities and others should simply ensure they have a presence on multiple platforms. BlueSky, for example, has a growing UK audience

They can then use the platforms that give positive engagement & wind down if/where engagement falls or toxicity dominates

As the year draws to an end, some books that I really enjoyed reading in 2024 & would recommend.
1. What you are looking for in the library - Michiko Aoyama
2. The man in the grey flannel suit - Sloan Wilson
3. Operation Chiffon - Peter Taylor

Where is post-Brexit Britain? New post on my Brexit & Beyond Blog. Recent Brexit news looks like a ragbag, but that shapelessness is significant, as it reflects drift and ambiguity in the government's policy and strategy for post-Brexit Britain: chrisgreybrexitblog.blogspot.com/2024/12/wher...
