the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

Today is Neil Peart Day. If you don’t celebrate by watching at least one of his legendary drum solos, you’re doing a disservice to yourself.

Well shit, now who is going to dispense calm, sage, witty advice to hotheaded fools in *every* movie or tv series produced in North America? RIP Graham Greene.

Canadians: removing retaliatory tariffs can be a negotiating win AND remain a retaliatory win if you continue to just not buy anything from the USA anyway. Just sayin'.

If you want to talk about inequity, how about the fact that the votes of a handful of uneducated, uninterested, ideologically-driven American swing state voters have such a massive impact on the health, security and prosperity of ... everybody else in the entire world.

I will be sorely disappointed if this regime isn't toppled by millions of patriots taking to the streets armed with hoagies, heroes, subs, Dagwoods, wraps and sammies of every variety. Can you imagine the humiliation of being defeated by sandwiches?!?!

Our funding depends on usage.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.

Don't know if it is climate or politics, but I have never seen anywhere near the number of reverse snowbirds visiting my touristy little Ontario town from southern US states as I'm seeing this year. Border state visits are down a bit, but southern state visits are off the chart up.
