trainsplit does some magic that other apps don't seem to be able to do. Not always but 90% of the time. Then usually get cycle res at station ticket office, or get them to book exact same tickets as on trainsplit. It's complicated for them usually but it does help support the ticket office....

Have you tried the trainsplit app? I usually get the cheapest fares there. Occasionally thetrainline is cheaper; the bonus with thetrainline is you can book a cycle reservation on the app there and then....
