I like art and generally find the people who make it, talk about it or love it interesting. Music is my bag. Books are my catnip
I had hoped this BBC piece was about the enigmatic and mysterious Beaver Supermoon of 70’s folk-psych band Bonfire Night making an unexpected (but welcome) resurgence in popularity in the latter stages of this year. Sadly it turned out to be an article on the weather

Hello! My CEO Roscoe and I are giving away TWO signed copies of my novel 1983 to two randomly selected people who repost this & pop a reply below. You also get a free postcard of this illustration of Roscoe by my mum.

It’s been called “Stranger Things rewritten by Kurt Vonnegut & Sue Townsend”…

Woke up at 3am. Couldn’t get back to sleep so continued reading Jesus Christ Kinski that I’d started the evening before. It’s brilliant! The juxtaposition between Kinski mid on-stage breakdown and the writer on the writing is fantastic. It is superbly put together @benjaminmyers76.bsky.social Bravo.

Hi @dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social, I’ve just finished Everything Will Swallow You and thought it brilliant. It made me smile and laugh and go hah! exactly the right amount (in my opinion). Thanks for writing it, and for persevering through all the shit. It’s a wonderful book

I passed Paul Whitehouse on the escalators in the Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street, exchanging the slightest of nods.

I was going up, he was going down, and had the look of a man satisfied with his purchase.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

Too late…And I’ll tell you why. They’ve already cloned you. Why? To *fight* you. After all, who knows you better than you? Your weaknesses. Your strengths. Your valour. Your vices. Oh yes. It’s too late! Signed up for this? You’re going to fight yourself on Mars in a dome for oligarch entertainment.

I have been playing around with the audiobook loan facility from my local library (recommended) and am listening to Mrs Death Misses Death by @salenagodden.bsky.social and, oh my god, there can be no better way to absorb this book than having Salena read it to you. Utterly magical

My local library in Easingwold is fantastic. It’s primarily run by volunteers who are all really invested in what they do. The children’s section is brilliant and there are lots of events organised to get kids into reading too

Hi @juliansimpson.bsky.social I recently found and listened to your brilliant Aldrich Kemp series. It was the first thing of yours that I have, and I loved it. So obviously I went straight to The Lovecraft Investigations and The Case of Charles Dexter Ward. Also fantastic, and I am hooked. But…

Today I finished listening to the last episode of the last Aldrich Kemp series (Aldrich Kemp & the Rose of Pamir) by @juliansimpson.bsky.social & a brilliant cast. Now I am sad & elated in equal measure. They are so good. All available on BBC Sounds. Treat yourself www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...
Limelight - Who Is Aldrich Kemp? - Introducing Who Is Aldrich Kemp? - BBC Sounds

Just finished the latest @dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social novel which is just as atmospheric and absorbing as his other writing and left me feeling like the walls of my reality softened and flexed in an exceptionally delightful way

We’ve seen a great idea that we’re going to arrange for our baby next Christmas.
A book advent calendar.
Wrap up 24 Christmas books and unwrap and read one each day. Same books every year.
So.
What are your favourite Christmas books for kids?

Yesterday saw the release of @mrrichardnorris.bsky.social’s fuzzed out compilation Weird Scenes from the Hangout which is every bit as good as I had hoped. Not available on streaming services, but some kind soul has created a playlist of its tracks open.spotify.com/playlist/1Lg...

This is a really useful starter for UK and Irish indie publishers.

Glad to find @ofmooseandmen.bsky.social and @charco.bsky.social on here

Thanks @phenryward.bsky.social
These are the main UK and Irish indies I recognise / can find on here. Quite a few haven't made the leap yet (Influx, Fitzcarraldo, Zero/Repeater) or have dormant accounts.
