Well said @Lewis
Says a lot that about 90% of the traffic I’m seeing on X right now is absolutely convinced the British govt is about to embark on a mass programme of state murder of the elderly and vulnerable. What was until recently the town square of politics has become the preserve of the bad, mad and deranged.

The government of the United Kingdom is hunting for a senior negotiator to lead Prime Minister Keir Starmer's drive to "reset" ties with Brussels.
UK seeks EU negotiator as Starmer pushes ‘reset’ with Brussels
The senior civil servant would act as a personal adviser to the prime minister, who wants to improve post-Brexit ties with the bloc.

It’s going to be a very important moment on Friday when MPs vote on assisted dying. I’ll be in to cover it live & for evening news bulletins. Public opinion points to support, but very unclear at the moment how vote will go on Friday with deeply held views on both sides of the debate
This is very interesting in Sunday Times. Those who have lost a parent in their life are more likely to support assisted dying than those who haven’t. It’s intensely personal isn’t it - personal experience can shape views both ways.

So interesting to view Brexit from the European side - this is Angel Markel writing in her memoirs ( extracts from @thetimes.com )- about it being a humiliation for European leaders …

Remember the Tory election betting scam on the date of the election.

Sky news reporting as many as five people may be charged!

Jeez
A politician and a close protection guard are among those the Gambling Commission is looking to prosecute over bets placed on the date of the election
A source has told Sky's Jon Craig at least three - and as many as five - people may be charged

The proposed closure of Redditch Post Office would be a devastating blow to our community, especially vulnerable residents who rely on in-person services. I’m fighting to keep it open, but I need your support—sign the petition to save Redditch Post Office: chrisbloore.co.uk/saveredditchpostoffice

This summary entirely chimes with my experience reporting on media use in the UK general election. Lots of people weren’t consuming any news directly yet were still weirdly aware of a lot of the big scandals or allegations. They didn’t even know how the story had reached them, it just sort of… had.

I had no money growing up. Luckily, all my favourite things were free. Friends, nature & learning. This was the local library. Sometimes I was the only one in it. Sometimes the odd drunk popped in to vomit. Anyway, it all turned out OK.

This exactly sums up the great X-odus
Imagine sitting down for a drink or a meal with people whose company you enjoyed & being told by management that half of the table would be now occupied by people who just wanted to shout ‘C**t’ at you. The exodus has absolutely nothing to do with ‘opinions’. Media reports must reflect this more.
