We are excited to share our next installment of insights into how septins sense micron-scale curvature via detecting lipid packing! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Lipid packing and local geometry influence septin curvature sensing
Septins assemble into scaffolds that direct cell growth and morphology that are often localized to the plasma membrane. While septins preferentially bind convex membranes via amphipathic helices, thei...

The mysteries of septins continue to unfold in this study examining mechanisms of septin polymerization and assembly! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Cooperativity in septin polymerization is tunable by ionic strength and membrane adsorption
Cells employ cytoskeletal polymers to move, divide, and pass information inside and outside of the cell. Previous work on eukaryotic cytoskeletal elements such as actin, microtubules, and intermediate...

Back from coffee break with the latest septin fan and #SeptSRC newbie @nanigrotjahn.bsky.social on septins and mitochondria with amazing cryo ET and super resolution imaging.
Breathtaking views of septin filaments on mitochondria.

So inspired by this beautiful work, made me remember my PhD days working with the role of F-actin and endocytosis in hyphal regeneration following mechanical injury. So cool to see that septins are also involved.
Stephanie Seveau is next @ #SeptSRC on septin mediated repair of the plasma membrane damaged by the listeria toxin LLO

Septins underwent extensive diversification in the Opisthokonts, particularly fungi and animals where hetero-oligomer formation defines their mechanism, but this is distinct from Archaeplastida & Chromista. Amazing evolutionary story. Amazing evolutionary story. @mcmomany.bsky.social #SeptSRC

Mechanobiology of fungal invasion
Fungi exert physical force to enable them to invade diverse substrates including, in the case of pathogenic species, living cells. Ryder, Sprakel and Talbot provide an overview of the mechanobiology o...
