- obviously, you don't have to use dreamwidth (or any other platform, really) if you don't want to
- yes, fandom & honestly the internet as a whole has changed and it's unlikely we can bring back anything close to the peak lj days

every time people complain about livejournal falling into disuse i have to bite my tongue to not just say "dreamwidth is right there tho." "but nobody's using it" this is provably untrue and also if nobody's going to try to be the change obviously it's not going to grow users off of trees lol
