I cannot get over the silence of the evangelicals who elected him, deluding themselves into thinking that continuing to enable the lawlessness, the cruelty, the mocking of the weak, disabled & vulnerable, by not loudly opposing it, is compatible with Jesus, integrity, love, law, any of it
If you are aware of who Trump really is and are fine with his hunger for vengeance and blatant authoritarian lawlessness, then no matter what you tell yourself, you don't value what is right and true, care for other people, respect the rule of law, or truly love this country.

If I could make just one statement addressed to every Trump-supporting Christian in America, it might be this:

I thought you told her to choose life.

There is a reason that books titled The Sin of Empathy and Toxic Empathy have been targeted toward Christian Conservatives in the past year. It's not coincidence.

Re-defining “empathy” as “emotional manipulation” (or vice-versa) is emotionally manipulative.

Not to mention intellectually dishonest.

This is excellently written. Please read this and share.
Is it all just hyperbole? The same political back-and-forth as always? Isn't all of this achieving the kind of small government and freedom conservatives have claimed as the goal for decades?
I realize many conservatives think those of us on the left are being over the top and beyond rational in our language about Trump's second term. So in my piece today, I discuss the difference between a libertarian and an authoritarian conservatism. baptistnews.com/article/why-...

In this era, many Christians have accepted the false dichotomy btwn law & order and compassion that has fueled the propaganda of political power-seekers for ages.
In this false dichotomy, what is set up straw-man style as representative of “compassion” is often not compassion but NEGLECT.

For Christians, the pre-eminent standard should never be pronouncement that something is
“biblical,”
but that it is “Christlike”
according to the context, words, & actions of Jesus' life on earth as God-in-flesh.
How has this been so lost?

Blindly cheered on by those who call themselves "patriots"
A king in the White House, utterly unrestrained & above the law.

A party in control of Congress, utterly devoted to the king, and not the Constitution.

An unelected oligarch, the king’s patron, firing federal employees & taking control of federal databases.

Yes, it’s a constitutional crisis.
