The Mississippian aged Edwardsville Fm. near Crawfordsville, IN is famous for crinoids. This piece is special because the anal tube (think waste chimney) was damaged and regenerated twice! The first time it split. The second is just starting to regrow.

It's another beautiful fall weekend in Eugene and these leaf fossils are right in season. Found in Goshen, Oregon, these laurel leaves fell over 34 million years ago but still look fresh enough to crunch. #FossilFriday #paleosky #paleontology
A long rectangular drawer is pulled out from a cabinet. In that drawer is a rectangle slab of what looks like concrete, about 2 feet long and 1 1/2 feet wide. The surface of the slab is peppered with about 30 red and brown prints of oblong leaves. A close up of a red leaf pressed into the concrete slab. The brownish red is vibrant. The edges of the leave are clear, and the black veins are crisp and visible.
