And this morning I got the answer – in North Carolina, early and absentee votes are, actually, not truly secret. Every ballot needs to be "retrievable", meaning it needs some unique number that is tied to the voter identity, so that a voter can be called into question after their ballot is counted.

INSTEAD of going to a branch which may be hundreds or 1Ks+ of miles away from you, call your members of Congress. They have constituent services that will help you regain access. Please share!
