This is outstanding. Thanks Sue. just what is needed at this very moment.

I am so sick of being told artistic expression needs to be done in a ‘safe’ way. Art and intellectual debate aren’t supposed to be ‘safe’. They’re supposed to be challenging, provocative and profound. If you want ‘safe’, stay on the couch.

A beautiful explanation from Tagalaka and Gumatj man Conor Bowdenn of what Welcome to Country actually is.

Watch and share widely (and for more follow Conor on Insta at @conorbowdenn).
Do those who scorn Welcome to Country actually understand what it is?

The form the politicians' derision takes shows they are either ignorant or lying. And neither is a qualification for government.

‘Brian, I can’t be any more clearer about our policy on that’
‘Why not?’
‘Mainly because at this moment I can’t remember if it’s the one we backtracked on, the one we backflipped over, the one we said we’d modify, or the one that we took behind the shed and quietly bludgeoned to death’

The best education systems in the world are 100% public. When every kid goes to public school all parents, including the rich ones, want the public schools to be good. Oh, and its great for social cohesion.

But in Australia, we talk about being evidence based but ignore the evidence all the time

Which is also why you should share it.

Me on Dutton's Thursday Speech¹:
*️⃣ 25¢/ltr temp fuel excise cut is "borrowing from our future to pay for a short-term fix"
*️⃣ Nothing on nuclear? Is Dutton hiding a policy which drives up bills²?
*️⃣ More domestic gas supply sounds good but mortgages our future. Electric is the way

'Dutton doesn’t hold a bucket, unless there’s millionaire cash in it!'
Brilliant
Dutton says he abandoned his constituents in their time of need because he had a “diary commitment”. Honestly. A real leader would have changed his $25,000 a head fundraiser and stayed to help. Dutton doesn’t hold a bucket, unless there’s millionaire cash in it!

So the major parties passed these electoral reforms late last night

They come into effect after the 2025 election. Which means this could be our last fair election. And the last chance to tell the two-party system to piss off

Only a Xbench with balance of power can reform these reforms now
BREAKING: Labor and Liberal may not agree on much but when it comes to introducing a new law to stop Clive Palmer, but which actually stops newcomers from competing with them in our elections, you can be sure they'll pass it and lock in the two-party system by Xmas www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3WT...

Dutton has suggested legislating Jan26 as #AustraliaDay to prevent future date changes. Why not choose a date that doesn't celebrate invasion & dispossession? Why not choose a date that unifies rather than divides?! Jan26 only became Australia Day in 1935, and a public holiday in 1994! 🙄 #auspol
