I ordered coffee. She asked if I wanted room for cream. I said, "no, just black." "As black as your soul," she replied. I laughed, she apologized and made a fresh pot for me.
This is actually quite brilliant, up to and including the final sentence 🔥

My 90 year old Mom needed a new pair of shoes. The ones that fit and met her approval cost $150 Since they were made in Vietnam we figured the 20% tariff added $25 to the cost of her shoes. #trumpstariff #tax

After driving across the western US and scanning the radio dials I realized K-Love likely reaches more people than NPR. It was good to get back to Iowa to hear Iowa Public Radio.

We just spent a week in Portland. It's one of the nicest cities I've spent time in. Felt safe when we were downtown, folks were helpful with my wife who uses a walker. This Iowa guy was impressed.
Read my statement on President Trump’s decision to send U.S. troops to Portland.

This is the kind of rule that made it feel like I was destroying evidence when I recycled my old lesson plan books.
Oklahoma will now force teachers from blue states to pass a 50-question “anti-woke” test.

This from a state that ranks near the bottom in education – maybe they should test their own system before lecturing everyone else. Imagine failing at schools so badly you start blaming California teachers.

Experienced the "best" or was it the worst of American consumerism today before leaving the new Buc-ces in Rockingham County. It was the cheapest gas we've bought on our trip at $2.69 a gallon

At the hardware store today, the old guy training the new cashier told a couple guys I'm sure he knew, "it's good you bought this before Friday." When asked why he said,"your President is raising the price for that by $5." The interactions were entertaining.

"There are Christians who are preaching and practicing the ministry of Jesus, the son of God, who himself was unhoused and undocumented....

And then there are Christian nationalists, whose religion of empire is more akin to the worship of Caesar than the Jesus of the scriptures."

A question one of my 9th graders asked the exchange student from Liberia at the beginning of the last school year. Trump should know better.
“Such good English,” President Trump said to President Joseph Boakai of Liberia, where English is the official language, during a White House lunch on Wednesday. “Where did you learn to speak so beautifully?” Trump continued. “Where? Were you educated? Where?” https://trib.al/5EOBL9m
