That is, currently, the American way I'm afraid. Take, take, take and fuck everyone else. This shit makes me crazy. But, BUT, on Halloween, when all the neighbors with their kids were giving kudos about the LFL in my front yard, it makes it all worth it. Kids love it so Ill keep at it.

Oh no, I'm referring to "hope" as a problematic illusion. More like in true Alan Watts fashion, where we neglect the present moment, where life actually happens, and place our bets on the future, "hoping" for better days without manifesting them, through taking action. Planting seeds type a thing.

And this happens all day, every day, across the nation. I'm not afraid of immigrants in my neighborhood. I'm afraid of ICE thugs with guns who operate with impunity and violate the very laws that were supposed to separate us from tyranny. I hope you're right but I'm about done with hope.

You might be surprised just how many people are fine with this in numerous contexts. Yes, the books are there for people to take. The very nature of the free library is that anyone can take books. They aren't there for someone who has no intention of reading them, to take, then sell.

... Sharpie over the barcodes because I'm not buying them for someone else to make a profit on. My suspicions were confirmed when I saw a car pull up, empty the books, only to see the same car & person who owned the used book store, where I bought several of those books from, at the register. 🧵

Working without pay. Would you? Fuck no. And, given that the "administration" was trying to fire people during the shutdown and strip them of back pay rights, I'm surprised that any of them went to work at all. Requiring work without pay violates labor laws and, in some cases, the 13th Amendment.

On that note, neither said such things about the Japanese forces. My Mom's dad said they were cunning, fierce soldiers who refused to surrender. Failing to respect or underestimating them was foolish. His greatest fear was an allied invasion of the Japanese mainland, millions would've died.

How freaking cool is that! Fantastic. Absolutely perfect. My mom stuck granola to our faces, handed us a pillow case and kicked us out for the night. We were pretty feral in the late 70's.

I've been around for, well, a few years. She took command over four decades ago, defined cool, and has not once, ever, said or done anything remotely problematic. She's a national treasure, a beacon of hope, and a unifying force. Also, fellow maker of groovy stuff, you're pretty freakin cool imo.
