lately around this time of year I get a covid and flu shot at the same time. pretty brutal day after but I'll take the hit

you're the only person I follow who posts about it so from my perspective it just sounds like a hateful disaster game lol

while it could never compare I've definitely had some "too sick to sleep" nights in the past. gotta take those snoozes when they happen

You could play SH3 standalone, but I think it benefits a lot from having played SH1 first. Since both games are short, memorable and focus on different aspects of Silent Hill's horror, I think they go well together anyway. I'm glad I went through the trilogy; well worth it!

Now enjoy bread.

It's a great game. I wish there were more open areas to wander, but SH3 is laser-focused on a tightly-paced linear adventure. There's really only one city streets moment to wander around in and it's a slice of SH2's map, so it feels like a formality at this point.

Heather is a great protagonist compared to the last two. She's defensive, sarcastic, and her motivations shift over the course of the story. She's allowed to joke, get angry, scared, repulsed. You won't be getting her to stick her hand in a slimed-up toilet, that's for sure.

And the sound design! Some of the areas and creatures in this game make such horrible haunting noises that fighting wasn't even a consideration. Imagine the screeching and clicking from a cursed being for which merely existing is agony and hatred. You know it's coming! Keep moving, Heather!!

The graphics have to be among the best on PS2, from the real-time character facial acting to the dramatic shadows cast by your flashlight. Just like in SH2, the noise filter crushes the darkness and softens the edges on everything. The mirror room was so cool--I was too shocked to take a screenshot.

Thankfully the combat controls are a step up from Silent Hill 2, with the weird kinks around reloading fixed and more reliable melee weapons. There's also a creepy addition to the floor stomp where Heather can kick a downed monster regardless of whether it's dead or not. Just one more kick maybe...

I really appreciated the body armour as an option. It's an optional item that, when worn, slows you down but reduces your damage. Finding the right time and place to put it on really helped keep my resources from draining, and I still barely finished the game with a handful of heals and ammo left.

I was so hoping she'd somehow pull a baby out of that like a deranged magic trick lol

all you need to add is a 3D render of a space invader. that's how this works, right?

but seriously, you could probably reuse some of the work done on promo flyers to use them as rotating backdrops for more standard template stuff later

I was really surprised when I tried out Yoko Taro's Voice of Cards and it was just a pretty standard dungeon RPG with card game aesthetics

Oh! Witnesses spotting a hologram "dying" in a way that wouldn't likely leave a trace. Good catch! Don't know why I didn't consider that

one winter, I was not feeling so great and ended up falling asleep at a weird time for an unknown amount of time. I woke up to darkness outside so I checked my phone for the time. it said 6. but 6 AM? 6 PM?? that was so bewildering that my phone has been on 24h mode ever since
