It’s been kind of a whirlwind couple of weeks, and I can finally talk about one of the highlights: I got to review NHL 26 for IGN! If you’re on the fence about whether to buy this year’s game, check it out!

Another good win for the Sabres! Maybe we can start stringing some together?

There’s no “middle ground” to reach. Generative AI is theft, and on top of that, it’s taking jobs away from talented people in exchange for crappier products. If companies aren’t willing to give us something made by humans, we’ll just buy products that are. It’s that simple.
"Surely there's a middle ground here?" The CEO of Helldivers 2 studio Arrowhead says people "jump to extreme takes" when debating generative AI, and that there needs to be more nuance in the discussion.

You don’t realize how helpful it is to have a good, tough editor until you’ve had a good, tough editor. Most writers suffer from some degree of impostor syndrome, so it can be panic inducing when you get something back with lots of edits. But if you keep an open mind, you’ll become a better writer.
Editors have a really hard job, and the good ones can make something unreadable readable, and the great ones can make something unreadable into something good. But they're basically invisible, until someone tries to write without one.

It’s just a few images so there’s really not much to go off, but Link and Zelda look pretty good! I’m really interested to see which games the movie pulls from. I’m expecting a lot of Breath of the Wild, with a touch of Ocarina.

Sometimes I wonder how much credit Capcom deserves in making Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet storyline popular. Because I feel like Marvel Super Heroes played a pretty big role in elevating that story with the general public.

I say this with empathy toward every struggling actor who is just trying to make due:

Providing your voice for A.I. undermines everyone in the industry. It is a net negative, that will only make it harder for you and everyone else down the line.

It. Is. Wrong.
“But in ARC Raiders the GenAi voices were officially sanctioned by the actors! And so did Fortnite!” - and their agreement to this undermines everything the rest of us Voice Actors, our union, and other industries have been fighting against.

I don’t know if that bobs versus bangs skit was the longest SNL skit ever, or if it just felt like it.

How many times do you think Marcello Hernández did this Sebastian Maniscalco impression around the rest of the cast before the writers finally agreed to write a skit around it?

Great win by the Sabres! Thought it was gonna be an ugly one, but they bounced back from that 4-1 deficit, and managed to kill that crap call at the end of the third. Hard fought W.

What a BS “too many men on the ice” call to give Detroit a power play at the end of the game.

At my parents’ house and Die Hard is on TV.

Dad: “What’s this guy’s name again? Mr. Tamagotchi?”

Me: “Dad, it’s Nakatomi.”

Dad: “Are you sure?”

Me: “Yes, a Tamagotchi is a virtual pet.”

Dad: “I was close.”

It’s this thoughtfulness and care for the world and audience that makes Calvin and Hobbes so enduring, despite ending 30 years ago. When I was devouring the books and cutting the comic strips out of the newspaper, Hobbes was always real, and now that I’m an adult, Hobbes is still real.
Hobbes is real and this is genius at work.

Yeah, I think the freak out over Prime 4 is probably unfounded. I’m guessing we get a guy holding your hand for a short bit and then he’s killed off or disappears. As someone that has played every Pokémon game, I think I can survive a tutorial that treats me like I’ve never played a Metroid.
All I'm saying is that if Nintendo had given Metroid Prime 3 to reviewers under the exact same circumstances as this Prime 4 situation, they would've had the same thing to say about that game.

Played some Ranked Battles for the first time in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Not gonna lie, those multiplayer battles are actually a lot of fun! Chaotic, which is fitting for the battle system in this game.

When I took French in middle school, we would occasionally watch videos, and there was this cheesy French rapper that all the kids laughed at. I know this is in English, but that’s all I can think about right now 😂
Nintendo UK just uploaded this Kirby Air Riders rap lyrics video thing? 🤷‍♂️

Hey gaming outlets: just a reminder that I’d love to review Metroid Prime 4 for you if you need someone with a lot of familiarity with the series!

This week’s South Park might have been the best of the season. The… uh, big moment kinda got spoiled, but it still was shocking in just how far the show went. And the kids in town using AI was absolutely hilarious.

Skies of Arcadia is one of my favorite RPGs ever. Such a great cast of characters, and the world was just so neat. The fact that this game isn’t available on modern platforms is absolutely criminal.
Today is the 25th anniversary of Skies of Arcadia! 🏴‍☠️
