Fun fact: #TeamManitou was on 17th St. NW an hour ago and saw two buses escorted by U.S. Capitol police enter the WH complex. Looks like they’re getting started early!
Shutdown Day 36: Longest lapse in appropriations in U.S. history. Some signs of movement: a) ~3-hour Senate Democrats lunch yesterday and b) POTUS to host Senate Republicans at the WH today to discuss reopen. (1/3)

Shutdown Day 32: Big milestone today as SNAP benefits pause and many Americans learn about substantial health insurance cost increases for 2026. Members of both parties have been active with statements and social media on both topics (and more) — with no assured end in sight.

Shutdown Day 7: The Senate convenes at 10AM ET. Of note, one of the Democrats that had been voting with the majority has hinted they may switch to "no" if no progress on healthcare is made -- meaning we may be one step further from passage than just a few days ago.

Shutdown Day 6: House is out all week (with 48 hours’ notice required should Members need to return for a vote). Senate is in, at least for now, and intends to continue bringing both bills up to see if vote margins change. Going to be an interesting week!

🧵 Shutdown Day 3: the Senate convenes at 11:30AM ET to resume deliberations, with another vote on the House-passed CR (H.R. 5371) expected. Barring surprises, this will likely fail. No votes scheduled this weekend, so the shutdown continues to next week -- at least!
