broadly disinterested in the impressiveness thing because the effects of the technology as promoted by the current stewards of it are so overwhelmingly bad in my opinion, but I could make a case that sometimes in some applications it behaves in interesting ways.
The graph in the above post where one's view of AI is plotted as a 2d plane between two axis where it's "Overall Good for Society" and "Bad for society" in one axis with "Tehcnically impressive/Useful" and "Overhyped, Unimpressive" in the other axis. My own opinion plotted slightly on the technically impressive side but dead down in the overall bad side

The correct take is that they weren't always Nazis but they were always *potential* Nazis because right wing politics are, at their core, Nazi shit and the bottom line is what they were before was *still* something that we should have fought against much harder.
