Frog knocked at Toad’s door. “Toad, wake up,” he cried. “Come out and see how wonderful the winter is!”

“I will not,” said Toad. “I am in my warm bed.”

Realized I’ve been approaching my writing the way I did study habits when I started grad school: I completely changed my process because that’s what I saw other people do or it seemed like the “right” way. Tonight I’m just accepting my best work comes when I’m flying by the seat of my pants.

“Have Yourself A Merriam Little Christmas”

Merriam, a career-oriented lexicographer from the city, returns to her small town for the holidays and meets Webster, a ruggedly handsome librarian, who shows her the true DEFINITION of Christmas.

Reminder that Starbucks’ CEO made 6,666x more than the company's median employee in 2024.

This was the widest CEO-to-Worker pay gap in the entire S&P 500.

And we're supposed to believe Starbucks can't afford to bargain a fair contract with its unionized workers?

My AP Lit teacher had us read Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. That class - and that play - are where I really fell in love with writing, and where I learned that the simplest shift in perspective can change everything you know about the world.

Back to working on WIP 2, and still fighting that thing I brought with me from academia of feeling like the first draft 1) will be graded and 2) must therefore be perfect. I just want to play and get to know these characters and see how their stories unfold. Sigh. #writersky

The New Deal wasn’t built on a promise that there would be “no ceiling” for the richest Americans.

Quite the opposite, in fact. FDR knew its politics could only work if he singled out the rich as villains and knew that its policies could only work if the rich paid their fair share in taxes.

Been a minute (a year?) since I’ve been on BlueSky. Something about the elections last month has made being online a little easier. Back to listening to my favorite podcasts and reading some news. So naturally back to BlueSky, too!
