“I’m not going to tell you I am absolutely sure Democrats should shut the government down. I’m not. At the same time, joining Republicans to fund this government is worse than failing at opposition. It’s complicity.“

This is everything 👇👇👇
Everyone’s answer us losing our grant is “apply for more grants”. Do you know what it’s like to be attacked all day in news/government/by colleagues debating “DEI”, to have students coming to you for advice during this trying time, and then to try to sit down and focus to write?

With all the NIH grant terminations flying around I wonder if NIH study sections will ponder a new layer as they score- a “funds got pulled out from under me” category

Trump: Gutting National Parks—And Hiding the Evidence

National parks hit 331M visits, but Trump officials don’t want you to know. A leaked memo bans the Park Service from promoting the numbers—while firing rangers, closing visitor centers, and cutting safety.

All of this. We will lose out on so many talented scientists who either can’t or won’t want to live with the uncertainty we face right now. I don’t blame them, but I intend to keep swinging till I can’t.

Today is the international day of the Woman and Girl in Science. To all badass women, scientists keep doing what you do: discovery, mentorship, and hard work. YOU belong in SCIENE.
To others, uplift the Women scientists you know, cite them, promote them, sponsor them, invite them - be an upstander.

I started my lab 11 months ago. The culmination of more than a decade’s worth of training, blood, sweat, and tears. I’ve successfully competed for NIH funding that is under attack. I’ve hired people I think are amazing and have bright futures. If. We. Can. Survive. And that’s not a given at all.
