Haha, this tool lead to me discovering I'm on a list of Americanophobists because I have used the abbreviation USAnian, which the list creator equivocates with bigotry and violent rhetoric! Takes all types I suppose.

whilst I don't disagree, the text of the law (to my uneducated reading) might suggest that in this specific instance, the person accessing the information might reasonably suspect that they shouldn't be able to access it?

I am not a lawyer at all, merely a computer science teacher and we don't have to teach it in any real depth beyond "bruteforcing passwords is a crime". My opinion was based on the Reuters-Intentia thing from 2002?, which I can't find a resolution for now, and obviously wasn't the UK law anyway.

The computer misuse act is vaguely written enough that it *could* be interpreted as an offence. Guessing URLs isn't functionally different to guessing passwords. Both result in unauthorised access of a computer system.

here's a good question that keeps me awake in similar circumstances: You find a dusty old tome and reading it embues you with magical powers. You can counjour gold, diamonds, ham sandwiches, whatever you desire. How do you enrich yourself without drawing the attention of the Inland Revenue?

I had a very similar issue a while back, and now my fan turns off immediately with the light instead of running in the dark for 10 minutes. I have never been able to summon the energy to try and work out the proper wiring. It's good enough.
