People have done a massive disservice to Ukraine and Europe by pretending Trump might do the right thing and help Ukraine. It raised hopes in a fantasy and kept people from facing reality. Trump is with Putin and all Europeans need to face that squarely.

Just sent out this free piece. There was a weird and widely spread attempt in the media yesterday to create a fiction, that Trump's peace plan for Ukraine and Russia was a rogue operation by Steve Witkoff. That finally fell apart--and it’s important that it did. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

Was just talking with a senior, trusted, Republican source. They said “Trump trusts Witkoff fully and Witkoff would not have agreed this deal without Trump’s support.”
So can we please stop pretending this is Witkoff freelancing. It’s Trump, always Trump.

The official United States government response to this is to work with Russia to cook up a plan for Ukraine to surrender its land and weapons.

The missile attack on apartment blocks in Ternopil may be one of the worst of many Russian war crimes since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

It's sickening that some in the Trump administration are plotting to reward the Putin regime for its brutal aggression against democratic Ukraine.

No,in order to end this war,you need the Ukrainians&Europeans also to agree to those plans.Of course,Putin could end this war immediately if he just stopped killing people. But we have not seen any concessions on the Russian side

Footage from Ternopil as rescuers continue searching for the missing. The damage is so severe that parts of the site can only be cleared by hand. This is what deliberate war crimes look like: residential buildings hit by cruise missiles, leaving families buried under the rubble.
